A Guide To Food Based Diets & Fasting Cycles

Intermittent Fasting Tips

Intermittent fasting has gained popularity over the years but what exactly does it mean? How does it work? And why should I try intermittent fasting?

Fasting is a practice where you abstain from food or drink for a certain period of time. The idea behind fasting is to reset your body and give it a chance to heal itself and the reality is it proves that your body can actually adapt to going long periods without food, as our ancestors did back in the stone age!  Modern lifestyle and carb-heavy foods have caused havoc with diet and lifestyle but intermittent fasting gives a great way to course correct.

So in this section, we’ll cover many intermittent fasting tips, including what food you should include, and what to avoid in order to not break your fast.  We’ll cover intermittent fasting benefits & disadvantages.

Carbohydrates In Your Food

Carbs are a major part of our daily lives, but are they bad for you? Are you dieting or just a health-conscious person that’s wondering whether you should cut them out completely? Or only eat carbs every now and then?

Carbohydrates provide us energy, fuel our muscles, and even give us the ability to produce hormones.  Carbs are found everywhere but are particularly high in certain foods such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, beans, and fruit.

There are two types of carbohydrates: simple and complex. So in those section, we’ll help you navigate your diet or lifestyle carefully so that you understand what and when to consume carbs for maximum benefit, and avoid unwanted side effects (weight gain, diabetes etc).

Protein In Your Food

Protein is an important part of a healthy diet, and I guess you already realize that protein is important for muscle growth and recovery after exercise. Proteins are composed of chemical building blocks called amino acids. Amino acids are used by your body to build and repair muscles, bones, and organs, and to make hormones and proteins.

Find out more on why protein is important in your diet and lifestyle, how much protein you should eat daily, and what is the best type of protein to consume.   We’ll also discuss whether you should include protein supplements (and this will depend on personal goals and current health). Happy reading.
